The first event of a newborn baby is Namakarana. It is the naming ceremony of
a child. It is also called Barasala. Pandit will chant the “Namatraya” mantras,
which includes Birthstar, Month of birth and Name of the child which being
named. Namakarana or Barasala can be performed on any day after the 10 th
day of childbirth till 1 st birthday of the child.
